6:57 Portsmouth Premiere

December 11th, 2009

I have been gettin excited about this premiere for quite a while now and the hype surrounding it in the local Pompey/Southampton scene has been really great. Also some coverage from places like Twaker Zine and Sidewalk has helped!

The Portsmouth Premiere was at Little Jhonny Russels, Albert Road and i don’t think they were expecting the turnout they got! The place was packed and everyone was game for the film. A real nice atmosphere was in the viewing area, probably because everyone kind of knows everyone in that scene. Adam Keys was especially excited and nervous for the film and seemed to be slightly drunk when we got there;

Anyway, after watching the DVD menu in a complete loop 6 or 7 times, everyone was REALLY ready to get started! I got the impression we were waiting for one of the stars to arrive – one film and the fame has gone to their heads! Once we got under way it was really good to see the boys skating like that. With the exeption of Jak Tonge who is on Drawing Boards, all the other boys are only flow skaters for their local shops. But don’t let that put you off, everyone threw down in this film – big tricks and some lush spots. The only thing that let it down was the length – we all wanted a little more!

The edit itself was top class. It wasn’t just thrown together, back to back section with the odd skate-break like a lot of scene films that come out. This has a theme and some really nice filler parts, cuts, transitions and breakdowns.

The standard of the edit as a whole is what sperates this film from other scene videos out there. So massive props to Rob Crawford who handled the filming, editing and producing. Of course, the skaters did their bit! Good job guys – Adam Keys, Curtis Jarman, Jak Tonge and Joe Paget and the others who appeared.

The DVD will be available from Bored (Portsmouth) on the 18th of December. I am not sure if it is a give-away or if there is a charge for it. Well worth checking out.
